3. User Accounts

To access member-only features, you must create an account.

a. Registration

You must:

• Provide a valid email and password
• Accurately represent your academic or professional background
• Keep your credentials confidential

You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

b. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms
• You misuse the platform or harass other users
• You impersonate another individual or falsify information
• Required by law or legal authority

You may delete your account at any time via your profile settings.

4. User Conduct

By using Scynapse, you agree not to:

• Post or share false, misleading, defamatory, or harmful content
• Infringe on copyrights, trademarks, or IP of others

• Disrupt discussions or intimidate other users

5. User Content

a. Ownership

You retain ownership of your original content, but grant Scynapse a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, and share your content for collaboration purposes.

b. Moderation

We reserve the right to:

• Edit, remove, or refuse content that violates our Terms
• Suspend users posting harmful or irrelevant materials
• Investigate reports of misconduct or abuse

6. Intellectual Property

All site content (excluding user submissions), including the Scynapse logo, platform features, design, and backend code, are the intellectual property of Scynapse and protected under international copyright and trademark laws.

You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works from Scynapse content without written permission.

7. Proposal and Collaboration Rules

Scynapse facilitates researcher-to-researcher discovery and idea-sharing, but:

• Proposal acceptance is at the discretion of the receiving party
• Scynapse does not mediate disputes between collaborators
• Any agreements made between users (e.g., NDAs, co-authorship, IP sharing) must be formalized outside the platform
• Users are responsible for maintaining academic integrity and proper citation in any resulting work

Scynapse is not liable for misuse of shared ideas or failure of collaboration outcomes.

8. Third-Party Services and Links

Scynapse may link to third-party websites or tools (e.g., ORCID, Google Scholar). We do not control or endorse these services and are not liable for their content, availability, or data handling practices.

Use third-party links at your own discretion.

9. Disclaimers

Scynapse is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no guarantees that the platform will be:

• Error-free or uninterrupted
• Free from viruses or harmful code
• Effective for all collaboration purposes

We disclaim all warranties, expressed or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scynapse and its affiliates shall not be liable for:

• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Loss of data, reputation, or income resulting from platform use
• Disputes between users
• Unauthorized access to user data despite reasonable safeguards

Total liability for any claim will not exceed $100 USD or equivalent.
